Concept & Features

Paddington Terrace unfolds as a dialogue between past and present, a reawakening of a heritage residence into a sanctuary of calm and contemporary grace. Nestled east of Sydney’s vibrant heart, the four-level terrace — spanning a basement, street level, first floor, and attic — reveals itself as a layered composition of history, light, and materiality.

The design reinterprets the traditional terrace typology, where intimacy and openness intertwine. Bespoke living areas and expansive bedrooms are composed with quiet precision, offering a retreat that feels both grounded and uplifting. A palette of muted neutrals, tactile textures, and soft detailing creates a gentle rhythm — a tonal warmth that flows through the home with an almost meditative ease.

At its centre, a sculptural timber staircase anchors the interior, rising through all four levels beneath a generous skylight. Sunlight pours through the vertical battens, shifting throughout the day to cast patterns of light and shadow that animate the space. This interplay of illumination and craftsmanship becomes the soul of the home, a seamless connection between levels, moments, and time — capturing the spirit of renewal within its historic frame.
